K-Pop Boy Band Reality Series ‘Made in Korea’ Set at BBC

Yossman The BBC has acquired a new K-pop reality series tentatively titled “Made in Korea.” The show follows a British boyband as they head to a K-pop boot camp in Korea, where the bandmembers will learn from experts behind some of the country’s biggest music exports. “Featuring incredible performances, television gold and a band set to entertain the world, will these young artists have what it takes to learn from the best and make the jump from ordinary life to new pop sensations?” reads the logline.
Made by producer Nigel Hall (“Britain’s Got Talent”), talent manager Russ Lindsay (former manager of Ant & Dec), broadcast executive Dawn Airey’s Moon&Back Media and Korea’s SM Entertainment, “Made in Korea” is currently in production. ITV Studios is distributing the series and format. They are set to present the show at the ITV Studios showcase in London this week, where they will also give global buyers a sneak peek at other non-scripted titles.
ITV Studios, which is the production arm of U.K. media conglomerate ITV, has also announced a slew of new sales, including “Predator v Prey” (a new National Geographic International wildlife series narrated by “Top Boy” actor Howard Charles) and “Love Island Games,” a spin-off of the hit dating show, which has sold across the world including Australia, Canada and Norway. Viola Beach, who'd played at Reading and Leeds Festivals and had airtime on Radio 1, were inside a black Nissan Qashqai which drove off a bridge and landed in a Stockholm canal, 80ft below.The promising indie-rock group's members from Warrington, Cheshire – singer Kris Leonard, guitarist River Reeves, bass player Tomas Lowe and drummer Jack Dakin – as well as their manager, Craig Tarry, who was in the car with the band, all died in the horrifying accident in February 2016.Their vehicle broke through the barriers of a bridge over a canal in Stockholm's Sodertalje district and plunged into the water in the early hours of the morning.The bridge had been opened to let ships pass through, and was in the process of closing when the car went through the barriers.
