bombshell defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is now the subject of a new movie which is due for release in just a matter of weeks. The film - which is entitled Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial - will follow the tumultuous relationship between the Pirates of the Caribbean star and his ex-wife, both in and out of court. It is set to debut exclusively on the free Tubi streaming service on September 30.

Depp will be portrayed by Days of Our Lives actor Mark Hapka, with Megan Davis (Alone in the Dark) has been cast as Heard in the forthcoming film, which follows the ex-couple’s tumultuous relationship in and out of court. Station 19’s Melissa Marty will star as Depp’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez, and Law & Order: True Crime’s Mary Carrig will play Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft.

Never-before-seen footage has been released from Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s libel trial in the trailer for the upcoming documentary about their bitter legal battle. A documented show titled Johnny vs Amber: The US Trial, released 20 September, focuses on the highly publicised libel lawsuit, which saw Johnny, 59, sue Amber, 36, for defamation over a Washington Post article after he was accused of domestic violence.The trailer for the documentary has shown clips from the Virginia trial of the former married couple’s testimonies, leading to the eventual verdict of Johnny’s victory.

Aquaman 2 recently got shifted to 2023, but it has been a hotly anticipated movie ever since the sequel to the 2018 hit  starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard and Patrick Wilson got greenlighted. Oddly, Heard did not get a big bump in her career following the release of her DC film.

Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard will be released September 19 on Discovery+.Titled Johnny vs Amber: The US Trial, the documentary features interviews with Depp’s lawyers, legal experts and journalists, along with behind-the-scenes footage amid the trial which was held between April and June this year.The first episode will investigate Depp’s side of events, covering his “abusive childhood and drug dependencies” and presenting “an alternative version of events that show Johnny to be a victim of domestic abuse himself”.The second episode details Heard’s account, including “her detailed description of alleged sexual assault told on camera for the first time” and how “advocates of Depp mercilessly attacked her via social media,” as noted in a press release.A synopsis reads: “The series gives a forensic account of the key evidence and turning points of the case from both sides, allowing viewers to make up their own minds about who to believe.”Depp sued Heard for defamation over a 2018 op-ed in The Washington Post, where she wrote about being a survivor of domestic violence. While his name isn’t mentioned in the piece, Depp’s lawyers argued it falsely implies she was sexually and physically abused by him in their marriage.

Johnny Depp is making his return to the big stage in the United States. According to the Brown County Music Center’s website, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star will be joining Jeff Beck in Nashville Oct. 19.
