EXCLUSIVE: After showing her strong support for interim agreements while promoting her film Memory on the festival circuit, Jessica Chastain is backing that up with Dreams, which has received a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement last month. The Teorema pic reunites her with her Memory director Michel Franco and recently finished filming in San Francisco, where some 60 actors and 50 below-the-line crew members were employed for the shoot. Rupert Friend among those featured in the cast.
Teorema in association with Freckle Films are producing the pic, and plot details are unknown at this time. Sources add that the script also was non-WGA.
Interim agreements have become a topic of conversation during the SAG-AFTRA strike especially when it comes to talent promoting films. As festival season has ramped up and allowed individuals to speak on the agreements, everyone from Chastain to Ferrari star Adam Driver have gotten the opportunity to explain why they are such an important strategy to aid strikes.
“If a majority of independent producers, come forward and sign the Interim Agreement deal it will show the AMPTP how wrong they are when they say our contract terms are unrealistic or unreasonable,” Chastain wrote on X on Sunday. “These agreements also provide employment opportunities for our crew members who are really struggling during the strike. By doing this, we advance our strike agenda as we keep the pressure on the struck companies in a way that nothing else will.”
She shared a video of Fran Drescher alongside her post, in which the SAG-AFTRA president discusses the interim agreements in an interview.
Chastain and Franco’s Memory is set to make its North American premiere at the Toronto Film Festival tonight.
