It’s official – Jesse Spencer will be back on Chicago Fire.
The 43-year-old actor departed the series at the beginning of season 10 in October 2021.

It turns out Jesse‘s character Matthew Casey will be back for Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella’s (Miranda Rae Mayo) wedding.
“Basically, we went to Jesse a month ago or so. We officially said, ‘Severide’s getting married and there’s no way that Severide can get married without his best friend and his best man at the wedding,’” showrunner Derek Haas shared with Variety. “‘So whatever we need to say to get you to come with us, please.’ Jesse is the greatest and we were thrilled he agreed to do it.”
Derek and co-showrunner Andrea Newman also teased that the wedding isn’t going to go as planned.
“The wedding is not going to go as planned. Plus, there’ll be at least one surprise guest at the wedding besides Jesse,” Derek says. “It became a matter of how many people could we get in one day availability-wise, so we put together a wish list.”
Andrea added, “We had kind of endless wish list that went on pages, but that being said, we also have all these twists and turns in the wedding itself. People that we wanted to get there might might not make it.”
Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
