Singer, actress and fashion icon Jane Birkin has passed away aged 76.
The English-French star, who inspired the name of the world-famous Hermes Birkin handbag in 1983, was allegedly found at her home in France by her caregiver, French media have reported.
The screen star is one of the biggest icons of the 1960s, and is known for her controversial relationship with fellow actor Serge Gainsbourg, which spanned several decades.
The Mirror reports that Jane first emerged in the showbiz world during through an uncredited role in The Knack ...and How to Get It.
A small role in Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blowup in 1966 saw her gain some amount of notoriety after her brave nude scene as a blonde model.
She also held roles in the films Kaleidoscope and Wonderwall, released in 1966 and 1968 respectively.
