Sherri Saum and James Denton team up for a duet at a rehearsal dinner in their new movie, Perfect Harmony, airing tonight on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
The film also stars James‘s real life son, Sheppard Denton, as well as real-life married couple, Julia and Peter Benson.
Here’s a summary of the film: When Jack Chandeller (Denton) and Barrett Woodward’s (Saum) mutual friends Naomi (Julia) and Simon (Peter) are ready to tie the knot, they ask the pair to be Best Man and Maid of Honor.
The two, a buttoned-up college professor and a laid-back, former pop star, have been like oil and water since they met 10 years prior but, to support Naomi and Simon, they agree to set aside their differences.
At the engagement party, Barrett is horrified to learn Jack’s plan for party music was nothing more than a playlist. She guilts him into performing but he insists she join him on stage, much to his son Teddy’s (Sheppard) dismay as Barrett also happens to be his professor.
Following their performance, the frost between them begins to thaw. As Jack and Barrett continue to spend time together leading up to the wedding, they surprisingly find themselves getting along. Slowly, they begin to change their perceptions of each other and find they may be more in tune than either of them would have imagined.
James will perform a new, original song “Ooh Wee Ooh,” and, together with Sherri, will perform “Perfect Harmony,” which was also written especially for the movie.
Perfect Harmony will premiere tonight, Sunday, October 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

Filmmaker James Gray has arguably been trying to avoid himself and his past these last few years, perhaps in order to create something new. A filmmaker who has spent much of his time exploring America and his roots in New York, with humanistic, moral, and family stories about class within the genre of crime (“Little Odessa,” “The Yards,” “We Own The Night”), in the last few years of his filmmaking career, Gray has seemingly gone as far away from New York as possible, into the jungles of the amazon for “The Lost City Of Z” (2014) and into the far reaches of outer space for “Ad Astra” (2019). And while those films have expanded the palette of his preoccupation, “Ada Astra” in particular tackling ideas of American exceptionalism and its myths, perhaps both films—still centered on class, family, fatherhood and more— demonstrated, as far as he travels, the filmmaker cannot escape himself or his human obsessions and concerns.
It’s been six years since the pop star and now fashion and makeup mogul Rihanna released new music. She’s back! Rihanna released a preview of her new song before the tribute track — dedicated to the late Chadwick Boseman — releases in full on Friday, October 28.

A.D. Amorosi The import of crafting an original song for “Till,” director and co-writer Chinonye Chukwu’s heart-wrenching biopic on the execution of Emmett Till and the quest for justice led by his mother, Mamie, was never lost on Jazmine Sullivan and Dernst “D’Mile’ Emile II, the songwriters, performer and producer, respectively, of “Stand Up.” Soon to be submitted for Academy Awards consideration, “Stand Up” was released on Oct. 7, as the film, “Till,” expands with its broad theatrical release planned for Oct 21.
