James Corden has revealed his reasoning for turning down $50million to continue the Late Late Show.
The star - who is officially stepping away from the CBS show after eight years - appeared on The Howard Stern Show to discuss his big late-night exit.
After eight years of rocking out in "Carpool Karaoke" Howard Stern asked the comedian about turning down the huge sum of money and James explained his decision all boiled down to "time" and "family".
The 44-year-old said: "Really for my wife and I, we always knew - and we said this 4/5 years ago - when Max who's my eldest son finishes sixth grade, that is a real moment for us where we knew. I've always said to move 14, 15, 16-year-olds around, even if we went coast to coast or internationally, felt unfair.
"When he is forging a life of his own, making friends, deeper friendships and deeper connections, it felt very unfair to us, so we knew this was a decision that we had to make."
He then added: "But then the truth is, time with my parents — to be able to call my dad on a Thursday and go, ‘What are you doing today?’ And he’d say, ‘Nothing,’ and I’d say ‘Do you want to go for lunch?’ That is a feeling that I’ll just never ever ever get back. Because one day … the phone’s going to ring, and that option is not going to be there anymore.
"And to have missed out on those moments in exchange for money doesn’t feel like a good decision."
