Jake Paul‘s fight with Hasim Rahman Jr. at MSG has been cancelled due to a weight issue with Hasim, according to Jake‘s Most Valuable Promotions.

“MVP and Jake Paul will not reward someone that has conducted themselves in such a deceiving and calculated manner,” the statement said. “Therefore, MVP is left with no choice but to cancel the August 6th event. This forced outcome impacts Jake Paul, Amanda Serrano and every other fighter on this card who have trained tirelessly over the past few months for this event. The boxing community must hold Hasim Rahman Jr. liable for his lack of professionalism.”

Hasim had signed a contract for a fight at 200 pounds, but Hasim‘s camp said its fighter would withdraw from the fight if the fight was not at 215 pounds.

“Jake don’t want that he’ll only take the fight if I agree to 200 or 205. Like we both said I was 215 YESTERDAY and I’m getting fined 25% per pound! Keep the money I’m good with knocking him out,” Hasim said on Twitter.

UFC President Dana White was asked about the cancellation at UFC 277 and said, “I think they sold under $1million in tickets, and it costs $500,000 to turn the f***ing lights on at MSG. That’s what I think…I think that Jake Paul probably needs to get some different people around him. If he’s going to stay in the sport, he needs to be with guys that really know how to put on fights.”

In December 2021, Paul knocked out ex-UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
