ITV Revenues Soar 24% to $4.6 Billion, Integrated AVOD/SVOD Platform Revealed

Jem Aswad Senior Music EditorThe global recorded music market grew by 18.5% in 2021, driven by growth in paid subscription streaming, according to IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry), the organization that represents the recorded music industry worldwide. Her Jewish family fled Ukraine, which at the time was a Soviet republic, when she was only seven years old in 1991, right before its fall.  Her father Mark was a mechanical engineer in Ukraine and her mother Elvira was a physics teacher.  She has previously cited antisemitism in the Soviet Union as one of the reasons her family fled the country. That marks a 14.4% increase over 2020, although comparisons with the pandemic year are obviously skewed.Recorded music revenues were up 14.3% to around $7.52 billion, while streaming soared nearly 17% to just under $5 billion.

Taylor Swift was successful in court last week in her ongoing legal battling over the 2014 hit ‘Shake It Off’. Though this was in relation to the lawsuit pursued by musician Jesse Graham, not the separate and more newsworthy case instigated by Sean Hall and Nathan Butler.In the latest development in the former dispute, the US Ninth Circuit appeals court upheld a lower court ruling from 2020 in which a judge dismissed Graham’s most recent litigation.Graham sued Swift in 2015 accusing her of ripping off his 2013 song ‘Haters Gonna Hate’ on ‘Shake It Off’.
