Coronation Street’s Aggie Bailey has been off screens for a while due to an unexplained absence.
Fans were worried about the future of the ITV character, who last appeared in June, as there was no explanation for why she had vanished at first.
Spoilers for the soap revealed she won’t be returning in the foreseeable, though soap bosses haven’t confirmed if it’s a permanent exit for Aggie, played by Lorna Laidlaw.
The reason for Aggie not being on the cobbles was finally revealed, as writes the Mirror, though it was all off screen. Aggie's husband Ed Bailey decided to go to Birmingham to be with his wife for Christmas, but things didn’t go to plan when his money issues lead to a robbery.
Aggie then confirmed she was unable to make it home for the festive season on Wednesday’s episode.
During her last appearance, Aggie hosted a dinner party at her neighbours, the Metcalfe's home, trying to pass it off as her own after bumping into an old pal who she’d known when she had money.
Aggie's disappearance was mentioned in passing a few times since then by her family, but only to say she was caring for a relative, with no mention made of when she was set to return.
In a recent episode, son Michael Bailey said: “I can’t believe mum won’t be back for Christmas I know she’s doing a brilliant job looking after auntie Em but come on, it’s not going to be the same waking up Christmas morning with mum not here. For Glory, Christmas dinner without mum, she always makes a big effort.”
