A fraudster who flew out of Manchester Airport to escape justice after stealing £150,000 from her employer remains on the run. 'Greedy' conwoman Donna Wells stole the huge sum from the charity where she worked.
She was found out and two days before she was due to face justice in court, she boarded a flight to Turkey. Now eight months later, she is still at large, the Liverpool Echo reported.
A warrant was previously issued for her arrest, and she was sentenced to four years in prison in her absence. Her case was brought back before Liverpool Crown Court this week, as prosecutors sought to claw back her ill-gotten gains.

It was found that Wells had benefited to the tune of £159,862.77 from her swindle. An investigation revealed that Wells, who celebrated her 41st birthday at large earlier this week, has assets totalling £5,905.44 which can be seized.
The judge, Recorder Patrick Cowan, ordered that the sum be handed over to the out-of-pocket charity. He then dryly addressed her defence counsel Anthony O'Donohoe by saying: "I hope your client is enjoying Turkey."
At her sentencing hearing in June, the court heard that Wells pinched the money from Young Addaction Halton over a period of around 20 months in 2018 and 2019. She first joined the charity, which was based at Grangeway Community Centre in Runcorn and offered support to young people addicted to drugs and alcohol, as well as those suffering from mental health issues, as service manager in 2014.
She was "placed in a position of trust" in the organisation, including approving invoices, as part of this role. But an investigation sparked by a whistleblower in December 2020
