Inspectors ordered a restaurant to close after finding it infested with mice and filthy kitchen equipment being used.
Now the former owner of the Kohinoor restaurant in Derby Street, Bolton has been ordered to pay more than £7,000 by magistrates after pleading guilty of a catalogue of hygiene offences. Yasar Ali Begum, who previously ran Kohinoor, pleaded guilty to eight offences at Bolton Magistrates Court on Monday, March 27. He was fined £4,528 and ordered to pay costs of £2,490.
The restaurant is now under new ownership. Environmental health officers from Bolton Council initially visited the restaurant in February 2022 to carry out a routine food hygiene inspection. They found mouse droppings, a filthy drainage outlet clogged with grease and debris and other unhygienic and dirty equipment.

The findings led to the business being ordered to close due to the imminent risk to public health. The business was allowed to reopen some weeks later following a re-inspection.
Bolton Council’s assistant director of environment and regulatory services, Garry Parker, said: “Our environmental health officers did an excellent job bringing about the successful prosecution against this individual.
“Poor food hygiene standards pose a serious threat to public health, and we will not hesitate in taking action against businesses who fall short of their legal obligations. We’re committed to ensuring food standards remain high throughout Bolton to safeguard our residents and visitors.
“Food hygiene ratings are published online and members of the public are urged to check the rating before they buy food from a business.”

Prime Video and miniTV will both work towards providing internships and scholarships to students at the Film and Television Institute of India and the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. Additionally, to commemorate the celebrations around the 75th anniversary of Indian independence, iconic content from NFDC, state broadcaster Doordarshan and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be showcased on Prime Video and miniTV. Further, skill-based masterclasses will be organized for the students of various film and TV institutes and 75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow – an annual talent enrichment program under the umbrella of IFFI where 75 young, talented artists, shortlisted by the ministry, will be selected and coached.

In Sweden, TV4 acquired “Golden Boy” for its TV4Gold and Sjuan linear channels, as well as streamers CMore and TV4 Play. In Finland, Eccho Rights’ deal with MTV Oy represents the first time ever that a Turkish series has been licensed by a Finnish broadcast group, with “Golden Boy” to stream on CMore and Katsomo in Finland.

Headquartered in Mumbai, the streamer now has three content offices in South India, in Kochi, Hyderabad and Chennai. SonyLIV also now has 24 million paid subscribers, SonyLIV head of content Saugata Mukherjee told Variety. In the Tamil language, after the success of “Tamil Rockerz” in 2022 and “The Story of Things” earlier this year, SonyLIV has saga “Journey,” headlined by R. Naman Ramachandran Sony Music Entertainment India has appointed Vinit Thakkar as managing director, reporting into Shridhar Subramaniam, president of corporate strategy and market development for Asia and the Middle East. Thakkar will take over from Rajat Kakar, who is scheduled to leave at the end of March. Thakkar was previously COO, India and South Asia, for Universal Music, where he played a key role in major label signings with leading artists and is also widely credited for the creation and launch of non-film artist-centred platforms in a market traditionally dominated by songs from feature film soundtracks. At Sony, he will collaborate with regional and global teams to strengthen the company’s strategic partnerships and identify new growth opportunities for its artists.

Naman Ramachandran “White Snow,” the latest project from celebrated Indian filmmaker Praveen Morchhale, is his “artistic revolt” against political systems that repress artists. The project has been selected for the 21st Hong Kong — Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), the project market that operates concurrently with FilMart (March 13-16). Set in and around Kargil, a Muslim-dominated town in the Himalayas, where a war was fought between India and Pakistan in 1999, the film tells the story of Amir, whose short film gets banned due to a complaint from a religious leader, and his social media accounts gets blocked. His elderly mother Fatima sets out on an arduous journey in the Himalayan mountains to show the film in villages, which breaks her mentally and physically and brings her close to madness before she becomes a free soul.
