Emily Longeretta Bachelor Nation knows a thing or two about a wedding special. They’ve been able to pull it off effortlessly through the years — from Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter’s 2003 nuptials to the most recent “I do” between Kenny Braasch and Mari Pepin, which aired as a part of this season’s “Bachelor in Paradise.” However, the last time a wedding special aired live was when Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici married in 2014. Ten years later, “The Golden Bachelor” couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist did just that — with all the above individuals in attendance — at the La Quinta Resort and Club just outside Palm Springs, Calif.
Variety, along with a select few other reporters, attended the ceremony and the reception. The special aired on ABC from 8-10 p.m. ET, but guests began arriving (and actually checking in at an event table) about an hour beforehand.
To be fair, the massive amount of Bachelor Nation guests — everyone from former leads Ben Higgins, Kaitlyn Bristowe, Michelle Young, Rachel Recchia and Tayshia Adams to upcoming Bachelor Joey Graziadei and nearly the whole cast of women of “The Golden Bachelor” — were put up at the resort. So, they just had to walk across the lawn. From there, guests waited for the live show to begin before entering the carpet — ushered in in various groups, as shown on the broadcast.
Some were asked to walk again, encouraged to stop and take photos or mingle on the carpet while Charity Lawson and Kathy Swarts hosted. Meanwhile, cameras swirled from every direction for the live show while a drone flew overhead to capture a unique angle and the gorgeous set up. Some guests, especially those not in Bachelor Nation, therefore not needed on the carpet, went straight in to enjoy a drink at

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic For some of us, “American Fiction” has a satirical audacity that’s funny right out of the gate, gathers speed and force on the runway — and then, somehow, just when the comedy should be taking off, it turns muted and moralistic instead. I think the hitch is that after Jeffrey Wright’s Monk sells his fake memoir of Black street life, there’s a strong urge to see him — and the film — take a certain vengeful joy in how the book’s popularity skewers the racism of clueless white people. Instead, Monk is made so miserable by what happens that the movie never allows itself to discover that joy.

Emily Longeretta The Kansas City Chiefs are continuing to lean into romance. The team, which has made more headlines than ever this season thanks to tight end Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift, is celebrating the playoffs season with a whole new campaign titled ‘Tis the Preseason. (Is that a nod to Swift’s “‘Tis the Damn Season”? You be the judge.) Part of that campaign is a new trailer for a movie titled “Falling for Football.” A spoof on all the cliches of a made-for-TV movie, while celebrating the Chiefs Kingdom, the video stars Hallmark Channel staples Tyler Hynes and Janel Parrish; her character hates the postseason after being left at the altar for a playoff game, while he works at the Chiefs’ merchandise store.
