Liza Foreman CANNES —  Taking place in the Grand Auditorium in Cannes, the crowd that arrived to cheerlead winners at Mipcom’s Cannes TV Diversify Awards, was compact but buoyant as winners took to the stage. Some of the TV industry’s only awards to celebrate diversity and inclusion, a record 190 submissions were received this year from 27 countries. Hosted by the international anchor and diversity advocate, Femi Oke, the Awards saw 10 winners announced on Wednesday night with many present to receive awards. Canada proved the biggest prize winners, accounting for three awards.

The Inside Soap Awards returned this evening, and for the first time in two years, they weren't virtual, as organisers threw a star-studded event to mark 30 years of the hit magazine. A whole host of stars from soapland bagged some of the coveted gongs, with Best Actress being won by EastEnders' Gillian Taylforth and Best Actor scooped by Emmerdale's Mark Charnock, whose character Marlon's stroke plot also won Best Storyline.

Katie Reul editor “Encanto” swept the 37th annual Imagen Awards, which was held Sunday at Downtown Los Angeles’ La Plaza de Cultura y Artes, but the Disney musical movie was closely matched by several wins from Hulu’s “Love, Victor.” Overall, “Encanto” creators took home the most awards of any nominated project and were recognized for Best Feature Film, Best Music Composition for Film or Television, Best Music Supervision for Film or Television and Best Director – Feature Film, which co-director Charise Castro Smith was not expecting. “I’m pretty sure my mom is never going to live down the fact that I won a best director award when nominated against Stephen Spielberg,” Castro Smith, who is also known for producing “The Haunting of Hill House,” joked with the audience during her acceptance speech. “That’s serious bragging rights for her Zumba class.”

Davide Sanclimenti has admitted that he initially feared his romance with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu wouldn’t last outside of Love Island.The couple won the ITV2 dating series this summer and have been going from strength to strength, despite Davide being "scared" on the stability of their relationship away from the villa. Clayton Davis “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story,” “White Noise” and “The Whale” are among the first films announced for this year’s Middleburg Film Festival in Virginia, celebrating its tenth anniversary. “Everything Everywhere All at Once” breakout star Stephanie Hsu will be given the Rising Star Award, for her incredible performance in The Daniels’ critically-acclaimed dramedy, which has generated awards buzz. The fest will also hold a special screening of the movie after its huge success, becoming A24’s first film to surpass $100 million. The entire festival will be held in person with screenings, conversations and events from Oct. 13-16. Opening the fest on Thursday is Netflix’s “White Noise” starring Adam Driver. Writer and director Noah Baumbach will return after bringing “Marriage Story” (2019), to accept the 10th Anniversary Spotlight Filmmaker Award.

Anne-Marie Ross (née Boysen) whose whose career spanned more than two decades in International Film Distribution at Lionsgate and Pantelion, passed away on Sept. 9 after a near-two year battle with advanced stage cancer caused by a rare gene mutation. She was 49.
