Shops selling illegal vapes have been fired a warning after thousands were seized last month.
Rochdale Borough Council has issued a stark warning to those who sell the illegal e-cigs as the council spent 'thousands' on disposing the harmful devices. This comes after thousands of similar illegal vapes were seized in Bolton recently after at least three 'medical incidents' at a school in the borough linked to the devices.
Pictures have been shared by the council showing bucket loads of the vapes being seized by the trading standards teams from last month alone. They have now vowed to prosecute those who sell the illegal devices and make them pay for the disposal costs, which are very expensive due to the nicotine and batteries in the vapes.

A post on the council's Facebook page said: "These are just some of the illegal vapes our trading standards team seized last month. But did you know that it costs the council thousands of pounds to dispose of these safely because they contain nicotine and batteries?
"Our trading standards team has warned that all sellers of illegal vapes will be prosecuted and made to pay the storage and disposal costs. This is in addition to the potential penalties that the courts can enforce, which include fines and prison sentences.
