Idris Elba was crowned People‘s Sexiest Man Alive just a few years ago in 2018.
The title, which recognizes what many consider to be the most attractive male celeb of the year, has been most recently passed down to Chris Evans for 2022.
Looking back, Idris joked about being labeled as the sexiest man alive, and how it was his hardest role to date.

While chatting with ET Canada, Idris shared that the cover shoot was the easiest part of it all.
“I said to the photographer, ‘I don’t always photograph great in pictures, this picture needs to be great.’ [They’re like] ‘No, no, no. We’ve done this a million times, we know how to do it.’ And I was like, ‘Ok, I’ll just be me,’” he recalled.
Idris went on, “Then they do this sort of thing where they make your favorite camera angle work for the cover.”
Later on in the interview, Idris revealed that he’s still quite surprised that he gets recognized at all.
“I don’t presume that everyone knows who I am, even though I’ve been acting for a long time. When I look in the mirror, it’s just a guy that was trying to be an actor. So if I walk into a restaurant in the middle of Belgium, I’m not expecting everyone to recognize me.”
