Sky Sports shocked fans as they decided to axe fan favourite show, Soccer AM, after a staggering 28 years on the air. Since 1995, Soccer AM has aired on a Saturday morning during the football season. Sky Sports announced on Wednesday that the current season would be its last, leaving just 10 episodes before the show leaves the air once and for all.
A Sky spokesperson said in a statement issued today: "Soccer AM has played an important role in our coverage of football for the past three decades, and we continually adapt to the evolving needs of our customers. The source also noted how the show’s current hosts, John Fendley and Jimmy Bullard, were left “fuming” by the decision, which also included making staff redundant in May. It’s also understood that Saturday Social will be replacing Soccer AM in the 10:30 am timeslot. Fans have been reacting to the sad news online, with many of them angry and frustrated at the decision, given how popular the show is.
On Twitter, one person wrote: “Thanks Soccer Am for the years of laughs spread on laughs.
