She might be one of England’s most decorated players – in fact she’s one of the few Lionesses to have gained more than 150 caps – but Jill Scott tells OK! that her stint in the jungle was one of the most exciting times of her life to date. Last year the 36-year-old swapped booting balls on the footie pitch for munching bugs in the Australian jungle back, and even blagged the Queen of the Jungle crown on I'm a Celeb. Now, as anticipation heats up for the 2023 series, Jill shares her words of wisdom and encourages new campmates to “embrace it all” – the gruelling challenges, stomach-churning food trials and all.
“Whoever goes on to win it, I’m sure deserves it. I can’t wait to tune in. I honestly can’t believe it’s been a year since I was there.
“It’s such a unique experience and I think that’s why genuine friendships are made there,” she said. “You can’t really explain what it’s like unless you’ve been there. “There are moments when you’ll miss home, but try and find someone in there that you can relate to and have conversations with.
I was really lucky with Owen [Warner], Chris [Moyles] and Charlene [White]. When times are tough, you need someone to speak to.” But the burning question is, how does Jill feel about the winner of the forthcoming series taking her crown? “I’m quite happy to hand it over now,” she laughed. “A lot of people refer to me as the Queen of the Jungle, but I did play football for 16 years before that!" And as for what's next when it comes to Jill's plans, wedding bells could be ringing soon.
