I’ve always been a natural oversharer. On OK! I’ve written about my fear of not being ‘wifey material’, my complicated relationship with alcohol and my terrible financial decisions. I’m definitely comfortable letting anybody have intimate access to my thoughts, but I’ve always done that through writing.
I feel safe typing on a keyboard. Putting pen to paper, or fingers to laptop, has always been one of the things that makes me happiest and oddly, safest. Sharing my life on video is not something that sits as naturally.
However, I do love watching other people do it, and that’s because I’m a YouTube addict. It all started with Sarah Ashcroft. When I realised the girl I loved on Instagram was doing whole videos on another platform I couldn't open up YouTube fast enough.
My love for her content is so extreme that OK!’s Fashion Director Harriet Wheeler actually arranged a video message from her as my Christmas present. It then continually spiralled and now I’m eagerly awaiting new videos from many young women including Saffron Barker (who’s momager I recently interviewed), Patricia Bright, Rachel Leary, Molly-Mae Hague and Megan Grubb. The more basic the activity the more enjoyable I find it.
I'll watch someone do their big grocery shop then cook tea, over a crime documentary any day of the week. But now I wasn’t going to be just a spectator, I was going to join the club of women who share every inch of their lives in 4k (and you can see the results here on OK!'s YouTube).
