‘How To With John Wilson’ To End With Season 3; HBO Sets July Premiere Date

Addie Morfoot Contributor In Netflix’s “The Saint of Second Chances,” Academy Award winner Morgan Neville (“20 Feet From Stardom”) and Jeff Malmberg (“Marwencol”) tell the story of Mike Veeck, the hard-not-to-love son of late Major League Baseball owner Bill Veeck, who gained infamy for his role cooking up the disastrous Disco Demolition Night promotion at Chicago’s Comiskey Park in the late 1970s. The elder Veeck was known for introducing fun to ballparks via giveaways, theme nights, and fireworks.

Another Taylor Sheridan series has gotten a release date. Paramount+’s “Special Ops: Lioness” is set to premiere globally on Sunday, July 23. The streamer also released its first teaser for the series.

The CW has set its summer schedule. The network today announced premiere dates for new series Son of a Critch, Run The Burbs, Children Ruin Everything and Moonshine, as well as alternative series Recipe for Disaster, FBoy Island, Down to Earth with Zac Efron and limited series Greatest Geek Year Ever: 1982, and returning series Bump, Family Law and Great Chocolate Showdown.

Sigourney Weaver will premiere on Aug. 4. The seven-part series is based on Holly Ringland’s same-name debut novel. According to the synopsis, “When Alice, aged 9, tragically loses her parents in a mysterious fire, she is taken to live with her grandmother June at Thornfield flower farm, where she learns that there are secrets within secrets about her and her family’s past. Alice finds solace in the native plants and flowers growing in her Australian backyard. She, too, begins to grow from her past, but soon must fight for her life against the man she loves.”

Universal Pictures has set the streaming premiere date for its Chris McKay-directed horror comedy Renfield, starring Nicholas Hoult and Nicolas Cage, announcing that the film will bow exclusively on Peacock on June 9th.

HBO has renewed the critically acclaimed comedy series Somebody Somewhere for a third season.

TBS has set a summer premiere date for Season 4 of its anthology comedy series Miracle Workers. Miracle Workers: End Times will debut Monday, July 10 at 10 PM. As we previously reported, TBS, in January, had pushed the premiere dates for several series, including Miracle Workers, which initially had been slotted for January 16, amid TNets’ original programming overhaul. TBS also released a first-look teaser of the upcoming season (watch above).

HBO‘s street-wise, quirky doc series “How To With John Wilson” offered a solace for some during the crazy days of the COVID-19 pandemic after it premiered in October 2020. But all good things must come to an end.

“How to With John Wilson,” HBO’s critically acclaimed docu-comedy, will premiere on Friday, July 28 at 11 p.m. ET/PT. New episodes of the six-episode season will premiere on Fridays and will be available to watch both linearly on HBO and on Max.

It is releasing on HBO and Max (the streaming service formerly known at HBO Max) on July 28. “As we started work on Season 3, I found it exciting to think of it as the last one. It ended up opening a lot of narrative possibilities that weren’t available to us before and gave us the freedom to try some really ambitious stuff,” said creator, documentarian and self-described “anxious New Yorker” John Wilson in a statement. “While a part of me would be happy to go on making ‘How To’ indefinitely, I take a lot of pride in trying to make the style and imagery feel surprising, and I would prefer to end the show while that’s still the case. Thematically, we also kind of reach a vanishing point by the finale, and it felt like a natural place to sign off.”

CBS has set premiere dates for its summer slate of reality television programming, including three returning and one new series.  “Secret Celebrity Renovation” kicks off the lineup with a July 28 premiere followed by the Aug. 2 debut of “Big Brother” Season 25. The all-new musical game show “Superfan” will launch on Aug. 9, and finally “The Challenge: USA” returns for its second season on Aug. 10.  “Big Brother’s” 25th season will debut with a special 90-minute episode on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 8 p.m. ET while a group of new Houseguests arrive at the “Big Brother” house. Following its premiere, the series will air on Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. followed by Thursdays at 9 p.m. featuring live evictions. 

Rose Byrne will no longer be getting “Physical”, with Apple TV+ announcing the 1980s-set aerobics-themed comedy will be ending after its upcoming third season.

EXCLUSIVE: Apple TV+’s praised dramedy Physical, starring and executive produced by Rose Byrne, will wrap its run with its upcoming 10-episode third season, which will debut August 2. Sources tell Deadline that Season 3 of the half-hour series, from creator and executive producer Annie Weisman and Tomorrow Studios, was written as a final chapter and will provide fans with a satisfying conclusion (while also leaving some things open-ended).

Joe Otterson TV Reporter “And Just Like That” Season 2 has set its official premiere date at HBO Max (soon to be renamed Max). The second season of the “Sex and the City” followup will bow on June 22. The announcement was made at the Warner Bros. Discovery upfront presentation at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday. It had previously been reported that the show would return in June but no solid date had been set. In the show’s first season, overseen by executive producer Michael Patrick King, the worlds of Carrie, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) expanded when new characters played by Nicole Ari Parker, Sarita Choudhury, Karen Pittman and Sara Ramírez were added to the ensemble. John Corbett will also appear in Season 2, reprising the role of Aidan.

After speculation about the company’s upcoming streaming line-up, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed today during Disney’s upfronts that “Loki” season 2 would hit Disney+ in October, while “Echo” will debut in November. “Loki” will kick off its 6-episode Season 2 on Oct.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is getting real about the cheating scandal that led to the end of his marriage with Maria Shriver.In a new interview with , Schwarzenegger, who was promoting his new Netflix series, FUBAR, couldn't help but draw parallels between the divorced CIA operative he plays on-screen and his real life. While he admits there are key differences, Schwarzenegger said his split from Shriver was his «failure.»The couple met in 1977, and tied the knot on April 26, 1986, in Hyannis, Massachusetts. They would go on to welcome four children together — Katherine, 33, Christina, 31, Patrick, 29, and Christopher, 25.Shriver ultimately filed for divorce from the  star back in July 2011, following the end of Schwarzenegger's tenure as governor of California, after he admitted to fathering son, Joseph Baena, now 25, with their longtime housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena.

James Cameron‘s Avatar: The Way of Water will soon be making its way to both Disney+ and Max (formerly HBO Max) following a historic run in theaters. The sci-fi epic, which debuted 13 years after the release of Cameron’s original Avatar film, will hit both platforms on June 7th, being accompanied there by bonus content featuring filmmakers, cast and crew.

It’s official. Archer is coming to an end. The long-running animated comedy will conclude with its upcoming 14th season.
