After a bit of a disappointing summer, the weather has decided to pick up just as autumn begins.
Greater Manchester has been hit by a heatwave, bringing with it highs of 28C so far this week. According to the latest Met Office forecast, the hot spell is expected to last until Sunday.
To meet the heatwave criteria, the daily maximum temperature must reach or exceed 25C in Greater Manchester, for three consecutive days. And while conditions will remain warm this week, it doesn't mean the sun will be shining the whole time.

Last night saw the mercury remain in the high teens over night, while today (Tuesday September 5) has seen wall-to-wall sunshine as temperatures topped 27C. The same can be expected for Greater Manchester tomorrow (Wednesday September 6), with uninterrupted sunshine forecast until around 3pm, when the sky will turn slightly cloudy.
Unfortunately, the cloud will continue into Thursday (September 7). No sunshine is predicted to break through, meaning it might be quite a dull, but warm - and most importantly, dry - day. However, the sunshine will return on Friday (September 8), with sunny intervals and spells of pure sunshine forecast. Temperatures will peak at 25C.
Saturday morning (September 9) will be foggy, according to the Met Office, but don't let this worry you. It will eventually clear, making way yet again for uninterrupted sunshine across Greater Manchester. This will last from the early afternoon until the sunsets at around 7.40pm.
Rounding off the week, Sunday (September 10) will see sunny intervals and highs of 25C.
From Monday (September 11), the Manchester rain is due to return. Ending
