A woman says she has been left 'traumatised' after she and her dog were attacked in the street by a Staffordshire bull terrier.
Val Radford suffered bites to her hands and a fractured finger while her cockapoo Teddy required emergency surgery following the 'vicious' attack in Radcliffe on Friday morning (June 30).
Ms Radford, from Bury, had taken her car to be serviced at a nearby garage and was making the 50-minute journey home with her two dogs when they were attacked in Victoria Street.

As they walked down the street, Ms Radford said a young woman emerged from a house accompanied by the Staffy, which was not on a lead.
"I'm always wary of Staffs," explained Ms Radford. "I said to the woman 'your dog hasn't got a lead on, is it okay?'
"She said it was so I walked on and it came up to Teddy, smelled him and attacked him. He locked his jaw in Teddy's back and I lifted Teddy up to get him away.
"Teddy was screaming. I was trying to kick the dog and was saying to the girl 'do something, do something'.
"She was in shock. I was hitting the dog and doing everything to get it off but it wouldn't let go.
"I was screaming 'please somebody help me'. All I wanted to do was protect my dog."
After a number of people stepped in, Ms Radford said the Staffy let go of Teddy but then returned and bit into his throat.
"We eventually got him off," she said. "I was in total shock. I couldn't speak and was sobbing my heart out."
Ms Radford was also bitten and was taken to hospital to be treated for her injuries. Teddy, meanwhile, was left with several bite marks to his back and had to undergo an emergency operation to repair a muscle ripped

Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Unlike in the U.K., Spain and Sweden — where kings and queens are still formally heads of state — Italy’s royal family, the House of Savoy, no longer rules. The last heir to the Italian throne, Vittorio Emanuele of Savoy and his family were forced into exile in 1946, when the prince was 9. That year, the Italian people voted in a referendum about whether the monarchy should continue. They chose to create a republic and punished the royals for failing to save their country from Mussolini’s fascist regime. The Savoys were allowed to return in 2003 after 57 years of exile. In 1978, Vittorio Emanuele – the king who never was – got into trouble while he and his wife and kids were living on the island of Cavallo, on the south coast of Corsica, France. As reconstructed from eyewitness interviews in a new Netflix documentary, on a hot August night he became enraged when some loud “shitty Italians” “borrowed” the dinghy off his yacht and tied it to another nearby boat. Fuming, he took a rifle, went to one of their boats and, after shots from his rifle rang out – that were just meant to scare – someone got hurt. Dirk Hamer, a 19-year-old sleeping on another boat nearby, died of gunshot injuries in early December. Though it was never legally proven that Vittorio Emanuele killed Hamer, this incident had a big impact on the prince’s life.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director “The Idol” actor Jane Adams called out “feminists” in a recent Vanity Fair interview for persisting that the controversial HBO series exploited its female actors on set when many of them, from Lily-Rose Depp to Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Adams herself, have stressed otherwise. “What is amazing to me is no one’s listening—I’ve not seen that before in all my days, such a dogged ‘We refuse to change the narrative,’” Adams said. “I especially want to say to all the feminists, ‘Go fuck yourself.’ All these women that I’m working with are talking about their experience and you’re not listening. You’re not listening!”

Naman Ramachandran After a scandal that rocked Ireland in recent days over national broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTE) overpaying presenter Ryan Tubridy, the country’s government has ordered two separate reviews into the scandal. The matter led to the suspension and subsequent resignation of RTE director general Dee Forbes, a former high-level Discovery executive. On Tuesday, Ireland’s Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin T.D., announced that she will be commissioning an independent, root and branch examination of RTE composed of two separate and parallel reviews: a review of governance and culture; and a review of contractor fees, human resources and other matters.
