Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson has revealed that Ste Hay and James Nightingale’s wedding day will end in tears. The actor, who plays Ste on the Channel 4 soap, discussed the upcoming wedding scenes, which will see his character tie the knot with James, played by Gregory Finnegan. The road to the big day has certainly been a tough one for the grooms-to-be, with Juliet’s (Niamh Blackshaw) cancer diagnosis constantly on their minds, not to mention Eric Foster’s (Angus Castle-Doughty) blackmail, plus conflict with Romeo (Owen Warner).
Against all odds, however, Ste and James make it down the aisle next week in what prove to be unmissable scenes, with actor Kieron promising that the ceremony will ‘cement’ the two characters in each other’s lives. Our hearts are full. The soap star, however, hinted at tears, describing the wedding scenes using three words, one of which was ‘sad’.
‘Camp, Meaningful, Sad,’ he said, before elaborating: ‘And I only say “sad” because something sad happens at the very end. ’But just what is it that occurs? Juliet, we know, collapses after a heartfelt moment with James on the dance floor, but is this what Kieron is referring to? Or is it perhaps something else? The jury is still out on that one we’re afraid. And as for what’s ahead for James and Ste – is happiness on the cards? ‘I don’t know where we’ll be this time next year because it is soapland and anything can happen, but I would like them to stay together,’ said Kieron.
‘I wouldn’t like it to be all hearts, sunshine and flowers though, I would like them to have some kind of push and pull drama in their lives just to keep it spicy and alive. ’One to watch: Thursday May 18 at 7pm on E4. If you’ve got a soap or TV story, video or pictures get in
