Holly Willoughby is keen to "revamp This Morning with someone new" after co-star Phillip Schofield sensationally quit this show this weekend, a source has told OK!. This comes amid mounting speculation from fans regarding who will replace him.
"She doesn’t want to think too far into the future because she knows it’ll hurt Phil," our insider told us of 42-year-old presenter Holly. "But she’s looking forward to being paired up with someone new.
"She wants to rejuvenate This Morning, because she knows her stint with Phillip has had its day." Earlier this month a source told The Sun: "Holly adores This Morning and for the first time in 14 years she has made it clear that should Phil ever leave she would want to stay. They are separate entities." And Phillip is said to have later "blindsided" his on-screen counterpart with an unexpected statement addressing the rumours of their "fall-out".Though he insisted: "Holly is my rock - [she] has always been there for me, through thick and thin, and I’ve been there for her", she is understood to have had no idea Phillip was going to make a statement, with a source close to her claiming that the first she saw of it was when it was published online. Our source now tells OK!: "[Holly] still has a lot of love for him, but is becoming increasingly worried about her own reputation.
"By Phil not holding his hands up and bowing out of the show, it’s almost as if he’s dragging Holly down with him. She knows she still has plenty more years of television left in her." Even before Phil stepped down on Saturday, rumours were circulating about who could replace him, with Dermot O’Leary or Alison Hammond, who currently present Friday’s show, both being firm favourites.
