HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has issued a statement for tax credit claimants waiting on the £299 cost of living payment.
The majority of claimants should have received the tax-free cash by the end of today (February 22) if they were eligible. However, if those expecting it have not seen it arrive in their bank accounts yet, they are advised to allow a little bit more time for payments to be processed.
For DWP claimants, the payment will appear on statements as the claimant's national insurance number followed by 'DWP COL' while HMRC's payment will appear as 'HMRC COLS'. The government has highlighted some people may be paid later because there has been a change to their account in which benefits or tax credits are paid into.

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, the government department said: "If you receive tax credits and expected the #CostOfLiving payment of £299 but cannot see it in your account - please wait until tomorrow to contact us, to allow time for your payment to be processed."
The government has confirmed that claimants will be able to report a missing cost of living payment from February 23. Previously, claimants reporting a missing payment need to enter in their National Insurance Number so it's important to have this on hand before making a report.
Once a report has been sent the relevant government agency will get in touch with you to discuss the missing payment.
