Vin Diesel's constant activity on Instagram (yes, he loves posting selfie videos) has yielded at least one very good result: getting Helen Mirren to join the social media platform!During the junket in Rome on Thursday, the Academy Award winner spoke with ET's Nischelle Turner and shared it was actually Dom Toretto himself who got her into Instagram nearly a decade ago.«It was Vin and his team who sort of first introduced me to Instagram,» Mirren said. «That was, like, I don't know how many years ago — seven years ago? — but it was a world I wasn't really aware of and they went, 'Oh, no, Helen, you've gotta do this.'»And she did.
Mirren joined Instagram in December 2016 and very quickly distinguished herself as a master of selfies, though it's a title she may not exactly agree with.«I'm not very good at it,» she quipped.Since joining, Mirren's following has exploded to more than one million followers. Mirren joined the franchise in 2017 with, and she returned for, and now the latest installment, as Magdalene Shaw, the mother of Deckard and Owen Shaw.In fact, Mirren told ET in 2015 that she'd been wanting to join the franchise for years.
And, after shooting her shot, Diesel responded, telling ET he had some ideas about how to integrate the legendary actress.«There are so many options!» an excited Diesel explained at the time. «You've got Nathalie Emmanuel's mother.
You've got, of course, the matriarch to the Shaw brothers!»Fast forward to now, and Mirren's been at the forefront of a popular franchise set to wrap with an 11th and final installment. Looking back, Mirren shared with ET the aspect she's admired the most about the process that goes into filming an action movie of this magnitude.«We've watched the development

Vin Diesel loves when the family comes together.Diesel spoke with ET's Matt Cohen on Saturday at the block party for Charlize Theron's Africa Outreach project in Los Angeles, where he reacted to the shocking credits scene, which features Dwayne Johnson's return to the franchise as Agent Luke Hobbs.Following a social media spat between Diesel and Johnson, Johnson vowed in 2021 that there was «no chance» of him returning to star in a movie — with plans instead to spin off his and Jason Statham's characters in a series of films. However, the post-credits scene features Jason Momoa's villain calling Hobbs to tell him he's coming for him next — all but confirming Johnson's return for the 11th film.«We have such a great cast,» Diesel shared when asked about the surprise return. «We lead with love.
As expected, “Fast X” was released on Friday and debuted at #1 pretty much all over the world. It’s clear, even after 10 main films and one spinoff, Vin Diesel’s action franchise is still beloved by fans.
Marc Malkin Senior Film Awards, Events & Lifestyle Editor SPOILER ALERT: This story contains spoilers for “Fast X,” now playing in theaters. Vin Diesel says spinoffs of the “Fast & Furious” franchise are already in the works, including a female-led installment. “I started developing the female spinoff…in 2017 with other spinoffs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spinoffs,” he told me Saturday at the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP) Block Party. “Fast X” is the first of a two-part ending, but “it’s bittersweet to think of a finale,” Diesel said. In an interview on May 12 at the Rome premiere, he teased that the ending might be spread out over three films. “Look how many characters and great talent there is in the movie,” Diesel said of the possible 12th film. “There was no way I can pull that off unless I had everyone on for five seconds. These characters are appealing and we need to see more of them.”
Vin Diesel isn't ready to call it quits officially just yet!Diesel spoke with ET's Matt Cohen on Saturday at the block party for Charlize Theron's Africa Outreach project in Los Angeles, and he played coy when asked exactly how much more fuel the franchise has in the tank. While fans already know that the newisn't the end of the road — as Diesel announced at this year's CinemaCon that an 11th film is slated for release in 2025 — many are wondering just how many more installments could be expected. For Diesel, this is a delicate subject — specifically because of how much love there is for the franchise as a whole.«The last time I told my daughter [it] was the last one, all I saw was tears,» Diesel said with a small laugh. «So I gotta be really careful [about] who and what I say.»One thing he's not worried about is praising the franchise's incredible and unexpectedly large ensemble cast, who came together to create a thrilling 10th installment in the series, which has been ongoing for more than 22 years.«We have such a great cast,» Diesel marveled.
Fast and Furious actor Vin Diesel has shared his support for the Hollywood writers' strike. The 55-year-old actor was seen alongside his Fast-X co-stars at a fundraiser at Universal Studios Hollywood for the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project.
The stars of Fast X are sticking together.

X marks the spot indeed.Living life a quarter mile at a time with no sleeves in sight, Vin Diesel, the hottest bald man of 2022, wearer of kilts and patron saint of sequels is back at it for his latest lap as Dom Toretto in “Fast X” the tenth installment in the “Fast & Furious,” franchise. Diesel rose to prominence in 1998’s “Saving Private Ryan” and the first “Fast & Furious,” film, released in 2001.
This year's Cannes Film Festival red carpet was a real treat for the eyes. Naomi Campbell delivered 90s Naomi vintage supermodel and Gemma Chan took her new fringe out for a spin.
Twenty-two years ago, the “Fast & Furious” franchise began as a sexy crime-and-cars saga set in LA. Ten movies later (not counting spinoffs), the meathead stars of these vacuous slogs look and behave like a group of retired gym teachers who’d be better off behind the wheel of a golf cart.Running time: 141 minutes. Rated PG-13 (intense sequences of violence and action, language and some suggestive material.) In theaters May 19.“The real question,” astutely asks one of the interchangeable doofuses in “Fast X,” “is how did we let this go on so long?” But let it, they did, and now we’re buckling up for another moronic “Fast” film that plods along like “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall” and features increasingly fake chases.
Helen Mirren knows just how to make an entrance! On Tuesday, the actress graced the carpet at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony with a head-turning look.Blue was the hue for the 77-year-old star, who was all smiles as she arrived at the Palais des Festivals. For her look, Mirren wore a custom blue gown by Del Core.
. And probably another for of all time. The L'oreal ambassador, who is known for embracing her , debuted a blazing blue updo at the premiere of her Jeanne du Barry—and I am now of the firm belief that this is the look that matters (sorry, ).
Johnny Depp fans gathered along the Croisette, shrieking and snapping photos of the embattled movie star as he graced the world’s most famous red carpet. “Jeanne du Barry,” which marks Depp’s first leading film role in three years, since ongoing legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard stalled his Hollywood career, opened the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. Depp recently won a defamation case in the U.S. against Heard, who was ordered to pay the star $10 million in damages, and is trying to mount a comeback. But the move has been criticized by some and embraced by others, including Cannes chief Thierry Fremaux, who said earlier in the festival “I also care about Johnny Depp as an actor.”
Brie Larson didn’t understand why she was being asked specifically how she felt about Johnny Depp‘s film opening for the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
Have you ever looked at a gown on the red carpet and thought “I wish I could wear that”? Well, now that dream can be a reality thanks to rental website By Rotation, which has some of Dame Helen Mirren’s actual red carpet dresses available for rental. The online fashion rental platform is known for stocking big name brands such as Rixo and Vampire’s Wife, and now it’s added a distinctly A-list selection of dresses to its website.
