2022 is already starting to feel like 2021, which felt a lot like 2020. As if we’re stuck in a neverending loop of awful, it appears the COVID pandemic is already making film festivals scramble thanks to the Omicron variant that is spreading like wildfire around the world.

Any half-conscious observer knew Hollywood’s film awards business was pointed toward a reckoning as the audience for the Oscars and other ceremonies collapsed last year. Even I could see it coming, from way out here in the cheap seats, nowhere near Union Station.

The Critics Choice Association announced today the postponement of the 27th Annual Critics Choice Awards which were to be presented on January 9, 2022.
