He was also convicted of raping a woman at a hotel in 2013.Weinstein’s attorneys, led by Arthur Aidala, appealed the conviction on numerous grounds, but were denied in 2022. The New York Court of Appeals, however, agreed to hear the case.At oral argument in February this year, Aidala maintained the judge had prejudiced against Weinstein by allowing three women to testify against his character, despite them not being involved in the allegations for which he was actually charged.“This is major prejudice,” Aidala argued.
