Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has detailed his pride after breaking Wayne Rooney's mark for the goals scored in the Premier League.
Kane's header in first-half stoppage time against Crystal Palace was his 209th in the top flight, beating Rooney's record of 208 which was set during his time at United and Everton. The England captain also managed to break the record for scoring the most headers in a single season with Saturday's being his 10th of the campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, a delighted Kane paid tribute to Rooney and his legacy. "Amazing, you know Wayne is one of the best players the Premier League has ever seen and this country has ever seen so to go ahead of him is something I am extremely proud of," he explained.

"As I always say, I am looking forward to scoring some more goals and trying to climb that list." Kane is now 51 goals behind the all-time record Premier League goalscorer Alan Shearer and United fans will be hopeful he can break the Newcastle legend's record at Old Trafford.
MEN Sport understands Erik ten Hag has made Kane his top transfer target in the summer as he aims to add firepower to his front line. United are believed to be wary of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy's historic reluctance to sell Kane in previous transfer windows.
Thus, the Reds have created a shortlist of alternative options to target should the Kane approach fall through. On the list is Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund and Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani.
