EXCLUSIVE: Black Bear has closed a raft of international deals on Guy Ritchie’s next project, the as yet untitled action film which wrapped principal photography in Spain this week.
Black Bear will directly distribute in the UK and Ireland and sold the film to buyers including Elevation Pictures in Canada, Roadshow Films in Australia, Leonine Studios in Germany, Metropolitan Filmexport in France, Sun Distribution in Latin America and Spain, Leone Film Group in Italy, Nordisk Film in Scandinavia, The Searchers in Benelux, Vertical Entertainment in Eastern Europe and Ascot Elite in Switzerland.
Other sales include Cinemundo in Portugal, The Film Group in Greece, Forum Film in Israel, ACME Film in the Baltics, Caribbean Cinemas in the West Indies, PT Prima in Indonesia, Sahamongkolfilm in Thailand, and Mockingbird in Vietnam.
As we revealed on Monday, Lionsgate has picked up U.S. distribution rights. The raft of sales indicates that for the right project, the theatrical international sales model can still work.
Ritchie produces the new untitled film alongside longtime producing partner Ivan Atkinson and Black Bear’s John Friedberg. Plot details are being kept under wraps but we hear the film has an element of The Expendables to it.
The action film sees Ritchie reteaming with Jake Gyllenhaal, who played the lead role in The Covenant, as well as Henry Cavill and Eiza González, both of whom star in his movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
