Gregg Wallace has opened up on feeling "deeply hurt" after receiving immense backlash for sharing his Saturday routine in one magazine feature, as many people judged him for saying he "wouldn't have chosen" to have his son Sid. The Masterchef star, who is married to his Italian wife Anne-Marie Dallaglio, welcomed a little boy nearly five years ago, and he was recently diagnosed with autism. In his interview, which was called "My Saturday" and sees a number of celebrities sharing their own take on their weekend regimes, Gregg commented on a number of his activities.
The 59 year old TV star picked out various chunks of the day, with only a couple of them referring to spending time with his son. As a result, readers accused the dad-of-three of not spending much time with his young child. In a new interview with The Mirror, Gregg began: "I didn't mind the mickey-taking about Alan Partridge [which he was likened to after the article], that I understood.
But I was deeply saddened by the idea I didn't spend any time with Sid, I was deeply hurt by that. "And I'm also a little bit concerned about society at large right now where mass online bullying seems to be some sort of crazy spectator sport." The expert chef went on to share how during any typical weekend day, he regularly plays with his son in the garden, but there is also plenty of other time when he is "crawling around on the floor of the living room tickling Sid whilst Anna giggled". What's more, he was up at 5am during that particular Saturday morning, because that's when his little boy got up too.
