Dancing on Ice star Greg Rutherford has opened up about the "tough time" his family is facing following a nasty injury he sustained during the show.
The 37 year old former Olympic champion had to withdraw from the ITV competition just before the grand finale due to a severe injury incurred in practice. Greg, who famously clinched Olympic gold, took to social media to reveal the extent of his injury with a photo of his post-surgery scar, joking "effectively gave myself a C-section" after tearing his abs while trying a daring move with pro skater Colin Grafton.
Now, the sports star, who is a father of three, candidly shared with his fans the impact his injury has had on his home life. In a heartfelt Instagram story this week, he expressed: "We're having a s*** time as a family at the moment so I'm cooking through it.
Thanks for all your well wishes." Engaged to lifestyle blogger Susie Verill, Greg is a devoted dad to their children Milo, eight, Rex, five, and two year old Daphne.
Despite the setback, Greg recently updated his followers on his recovery progress, posting graphic images of his healing scar and commenting: "A little stomach update... I'm almost 4 weeks post op now and feeling so much better." He also noted the significant reduction in swelling, showing his resilience and positive outlook amidst the ordeal.
"I can't tense my abs properly still, but that's coming. I also managed to put a ton of weight on since the op, so as soon as I'm ready I'll be training to get myself trim again...
maybe even back on skates." Following an unfortunate accident during rehearsals where he slid through professional ice dancers Brendyn Hatfield and Colin Grafton, Greg was forced out of the competition on the final day. Dancing duo
