Greg James has revealed his grandmother has sadly passed away at the age of 100.
The DJ had sparked concern when he was absent from BBC Radio 1 breakfast show on Tuesday, 20 February. The 38 year old took to social media to address his absence after Matt Edmondson stepped in for him.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, Greg penned: "A pretty rotten week. Got rid of Covid then yesterday my lovely 100 year old Nan died so have spent a nice quiet day today with family." Greg went on to reveal he'll be back on Radio 1 on Wednesday.
He added: "Excited to be back on the radio tomorrow and very much in need of some fun. With you at 7am." Greg then tried to make light of the situation as shared a video of himself praising Andrew Scott's BAFTA red carpet look.
The star quipped: "Grief takes many forms. Mine appears to be thirsting after Andrew Scott." He also shared a message to his followers, who had been sending him many well wishes in light of the sad news.
Greg added: "Ps.
Thank you very much for your nice messages. You're very very kind. I sort of wanted to say something because I've been out of the loop the last couple of days and haven't really got back to anyone or said anything and my job requires me to be honest and open and I love that about it." However, the radio host revealed he'd been receiving a huge amount of messages since sharing the news of his grandmother's passing.
Greg eventually told fans he wouldn't be immediately replying to his messages. Greg continued: "However, the new influx of messages means the problem is now exacerbated and I have even more people to reply to. I should have done that thing where families say please respect our privacy which essentially means piss off doesn't it.
