Police have issued a warning on open water swimming on what could be Greater Manchester's hottest day of the year so far.

In a post on social media this morning, Greater Manchester Police warned people not to jump into open water just because it is warm. Officers also gave advice on what to do if anyone came into difficulty.

Last summer, police issued a number of dispersal orders around reservoirs to stop people from swimming in the open water. The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service also warned of the dangers, stating 'it's not worth dying for a dip'.
