Greater Manchester is set for another unsettled day of weather following Storm Pierrick. The storm, named by Meteo France, brought rain and heavy wind to the UK yesterday (April 10).
Several flood alerts were in place across the North West as the region was battered by the elements. Six amber flood alerts remain in Cheshire this morning (Wednesday), including at the Mersey estuary in Warrington, meaning flooding is 'possible'.
Meanwhile, two red flood warnings are in place in Lancashire, for the Wyre estuary in Thornton and at Sunderland Point on the coast near Lancaster - meaning residents should 'act now', according to the Environment Agency. Greater Manchester looks poised to escape the worst of today's weather.

But downpours are still expected across the region throughout this afternoon, according to the Met Office. Temperatures are also expected to climb throughout the day.
Highs of 14C are expected in some areas of Greater Manchester this evening, with Wednesday set to end much warmer than it began in all parts of the region. The Met Office expects even warmer weather tomorrow, with highs of 18C in Manchester.
