Lana Del Rey, Mark Ronson, Olivia Rodrigo and more have been reacting to news of their Grammy nominations.The nominations were announced yesterday (November 10),with SZA leading the way, earning nine nominations.Taylor Swift, Rodrigo, Boygenuis, Miley Cyrus, John Batiste, Victoria Monét, and Billie Eilish will all be competing with SZA in the main Record Of The Year category. The eight nominees (instead of the usual 10) for Album Of The Year include SZA, Swift, Rodrigo, Cyrus, and Batiste as well as Del Rey and Janelle Monae.Phoebe Bridgers, Victoria Monét and mixing engineer Serban Ghenea are all tied with seven Grammy nominations – Bridgers earning 6 for her work with Boygenius, who mark their first time ever being Grammy nominated.

The R&B favorite is followed by Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers (including her work with the band Boygenius), and Serban Ghenea — who works behind the scenes — with seven apiece. Superstars like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and the aforementioned SZA all end up in three of the four biggest categories, including Album, Record, and Song of the Year.

The nominations for the 2024 Grammys have been announced!

the nominees for the 66th annual Grammy Awards were announced on Friday morning, women ruled — make that, owned — the Big 4 categories: Album, Record and Song of the Year, plus Best New Artist.The diva domination was most drastically disproportionate in what are really the Big 2 categories: Album and Record of the Year. There is only one single, solitary man — former “Late Show” bandleader Jon Batiste, the 2022 Album of the Year winner for “We Are,” who is nominated again for “World Music Radio” — among the 16 nominees.

In 2020, musician and composer Jon Batiste won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a Grammy, and a BAFTA Film Award for co-composing Pixar’s “Soul.” Not to rest on his laurels in 2022, he dominated the Grammy Awards entirely with 11 nominations, the most of the year. The day the nominations were announced, however, Batiste’s partner, writer Suleika Jaoaud, went through her first round of chemotherapy.

Jem Aswad Executive Editor, Music This year’s Grammy noms are a refreshingly diverse look at the past year of music, with a huge number of female artists and racially and musically diverse nominees in the leading categories (see the full list of 2024 Grammy nominations here). Yet as the past few years in particular have shown, leading the Recording Academy, the Grammys’ parent organization, is no day at the beach — having to build consensuses and move the organization forward while making sure it accurately reflects current trends in music and business, in an art form that is almost entirely subjective.

The nominations for the 2024 Grammys are out, and Album of the Year is a predictably stacked category! Now we want to know who deserves the win.
