Gordon Lightfoot’s “final album” set for July release

John Hopewell Chief International Correspondent In a show of force, English-language “Spellbound,” the live-action tween series from “Find Me in Paris” creators and production partners will get a Season Two.  Produced by Cottonwood Media, with ZDF, ZDF Studios and the Opéra national de Paris, the 13 new episodes of the ballet/witchcraft series will go into production in August.  The “Spellbound” renewal news comes as Season One is set to roll out in international markets across broadcasters and streaming services from this fall.  Federation Kids & Family, the sales arm of Cottonwood Media parent Federation Studios, and ZDF Studios, the commercial company of German public broadcaster ZDF, will handle worldwide sales.

Johnny Depp needs a rest. The 59-year-old star announced that he's unable to travel and perform after suffering a fractured ankle, forcing a postponement of his upcoming Hollywood Vampires shows. The news comes amid a whirlwind month for Depp, who stepped out at the Cannes Film Festival and performed at Royal Albert Hall in recent weeks. «My Dear Friends, I am sorry to say that I have fractured my ankle, which is a drag!!!» Depp wrote in a statement shared on his Instagram Story.

To hear Lightfoot’s virtuosic work is to have been pierced by its beauty. In a 2020 interview with this writer, Lightfoot rhetorically questioned his own storied craft. “Am I psychologically invested and involved?” he quizzed himself. “Yes. Are these songs me? I guess. It’s very important that I do the work that I do to get me there, writing these songs. All the poetic license allowed me from those around me helps. But when they ask where it is that all of this comes from, I still always say it is my imagination.” Then, with a sense of gallows humor, Lightfoot teased, “When I croak, will people remember that, remember my work?”
