A trainee Greater Manchester Police officer accused of sexually assaulting a female colleague told a jury that he believed the alleged victim had “embellished” her story, due to being upset with him.
PC Ryan Pointon is alleged to have put his hand high up on the inside of the woman’s thigh and squeezed, while giving her a lift home. It is claimed that he did so after making inappropriate sexual remarks to her.
Pointon, 29, of The Meadows, Prestwich, denies committing sexual assault. He told a jury at Liverpool Crown Court that it was the third time he had given the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, a lift home and they were just chatting on the trip as usual.

Asked by his barrister Alex Menary if he had asked her, ‘What are you like in bed?' he replied ’no’. He also denied saying, ‘So you just lie there like a sack of spuds'.
The alleged victim previously told the court that during the 15 minute journey, the chat went back to a previous conversation about a boy who had sent her messages and tried to get her to go to his home.
“He (Pointon) asked me what it would take for someone to get me home,” she said. “I said ‘more than that’ meaning more than a few messages.”
The woman claimed he then asked what she was like in bed and she tried to steer the conversation back to work matters. She asked him who it was he did not like at work, which he had previously mentioned.
“He said he would tell me if I told him, which I took to mean if I told him what I was like in bed.”
Asked about this, Pointon told the court that he did not even know who he was supposed to not like and he denied that he then asked her, ‘what
