Giovanni Pernice shares heartbreaking reason for being self-confessed 'workaholic' amid Amanda Abbington row

Strictly's Giovanni Pernice has opened up about the heartbreaking reason he is a self-confessed 'workaholic' as he admitted his family back in Sicily is a huge driving force behind his work ethic.
The 33 year old professional dancer, who is one of the stars of Strictly Come Dancing, faced scrutiny last year after his celebrity partner on the show, Amanda Abbington, 52, abruptly quit amid rumours that Giovanni's tough training style pushed her to the decision. On the TV show, Adventures In Spain, Giovanni told Anton Du Beke that he works a lot because he's scared it might all end one day.
He said: "You know, I'm a workaholic as they say. Because obviously there is the fear that it is all going to finish someday, which is the truth." He also helps his family in Sicily with money and worries if he stops working, it will be tough for them.
He added: "Obviously I support me, I support my family back in Sicily, financially, so obviously I have fear that if I stop, everybody else stops because of me." Giovanni's comments came after he finally broke his silence about Amanda's dramatic Strictly exit. On a podcast called Mirror's Invite Only, he said it was sad because Amanda could have done really well on the show.
He explained: "It's a shame because, in my opinion, she could have gone all the way." With his friend Anton, who is also a judge on Strictly, Giovanni said he always wants things to be perfect because he cares a lot about what he does. He thinks all the professional dancers feel the same way and want their celebrity partners to look great on the dance floor.
