Her latest single, “Dance Away The Pain,” finds her begging for release: “My depression makes me go insane, I just wanna dance away the pain / I don’t wanna feel this way anymore, so I’m gonna take it out on the floor,” she declares.
The accompanying self-written and self-directed music video was shot in a family restaurant, and features Number One Popstar in a neck brace attempting to rally her real-life friends she met at a Zumba class to dance away their pain.
“I feel like pop music, especially pop music videos, are filled with young cool people, but I want to make music that brings joy to everyone, at any age, specifically 70+. My hope is that this song is a celebration of not just dancing, but acknowledging the pain you’re going through,” she says.
