Jelly Roll opens recording studio in juvenile detention center where he was incarcerated

Jelly Roll is very big on giving back.According to Entertainment Tonight, the country music star helped launch a music studio inside of Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was once incarcerated. The outlet reported that a portion of the proceeds from Jelly Roll’s Bridgestone Arena headlining show in December and the Redemption Songs event earlier this year helped fund the program.ET included a quote from the press release of the program that read, “This collaboration, featuring music luminaries Jeffrey Steele and ERNEST, alongside 35 pro/hit songwriters who helped kick off the program launch, embodies the belief in music’s role in personal growth and redemption, showcasing the journey from juvenile detention to success.”In December 2022, the musician spoke to People magazine about creating a music studio in the detention center and how he wants “to bring hope” to troubled youths.“It’s important, man. I think it’s important that we give back, especially [to] our kids,” he told the outlet at the time.

‘Hapless,’ new series on Peacock, has ‘Curb’ appeal: review

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” ended its storied run on HBO.That’s because “Hapless,” premiering April 10 on Peacock, is extremely similar in tone and context to “Curb,” with a few exceptions — and is even described as a “cringe comedy” a la Larry David’s masterpiece.Season 1 of “Hapless” streamed very briefly on Prime Video in early 2020 (under the title “The Jewish Enquirer”) and is getting a shot now on Peacock (Seasons 1 and 2), hoping to fill the void left in the wake of “Curb’s” final episode, which aired April 7. The series was created, written and directed by Gary Sinyor; unlike Larry David on “Curb,” our “Hapless” series protagonist/antagonist Paul Green (Tim Downie, “Outlander”) isn’t a celebrity playing an exaggerated version of himself — he’s a reporter for The Jewish Enquirer, described as the “4th biggest Jewish publication” in the UK, who finds himself in awkward situations, most of them of his own making.

How ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ ended with a ‘Seinfeld’ twist

“Curb Your Enthusiasm.” At the end of the HBO comedy, titled “No Lessons Learned,” the show — which aired for 12 seasons, from 2000 to 2024 — circled back to the plot line that began when Larry was arrested in Atlanta for giving water to Auntie Rae (Ellia English) while she was standing on line to vote. This violated a local Georgia law and made Larry an unlikely folk hero, despite the fact that he didn’t do it on purpose. In the spirit of the show, he had been unaware that he was breaking any law, and he hadn’t intended for the gesture to be a grand statement.

this epic power ballad, which hit No. 1 in 1983, the Welsh belter nailed the galactic pain of when the heart goes totally dark.If you don’t have some Ziggy Stardust up in your eclipse mix, then really, we can’t help you. This jazz- and falsetto-kissed bliss from “Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic” — the late, great Purple One’s underappreciated 1999 album — is a cosmic chill-out.Of course, Harrison has kept us basking in the eternal glow of “Here Comes the Sun,” off The Beatles’ 1969 classic “Abbey Road.” But 10 years later, he flipped the script with this ethereal dreaminess from his 1979 self-titled album.Going from Policeman to jazzman in his early solo years, Sting worked all of his tantric sexiness on this moonlit serenade from 1987’s “…Nothing Like the Sun.”The “Uptown Funk”-ster breaks out his best street-corner croon on this swoonworthy tune — from “Doo-Wops & Hooligans,” his 2010 debut album — that is all the starry-eyed feels. The sunshine-pop quartet radiate peace, love and celestial on this song, which as part of a chart-topping medley with “Aquarius” won them the Record of the Year Grammy in 1970.On his breakout 1971 hit, Brother Bill captures the pitch blackness — and bleakness — when both his house and heart turn cold “anytime she goes away.”Chris Cornell — one of rock’s all-time greatest voices — left a black hole in the music world when he died in 2017.

finale of HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” by “Seinfeld” creator Larry David, won’t do numbers like those. That’s because it’s one of the last comedy series — if not the last — to let us laugh without cumbersome strings attached.
