The Berlin Film Festival officially kicked off this evening with an eventful opening ceremony at the Berlinale Palast theater in the German capital. 

Last November, Universal Pictures announced a new “Jason Bourne” film in development, with “All Quiet On The Western Front” director Edward Berger helming the picture.

Among the busiest must be Cillian Murphy, tipped to add both Oscar and BAFTA wins to the Golden Globe he’s already won for his lead turn in “Oppenheimer.” But just as his diary demands reach near farcical levels of back-to-back events, the Irish actor is making a quick detour to Germany to open the Berlinale.

Matt Damon was in a chatty mood during Tuesday’s appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, updating that a sixth Jason Bourne film is in the works.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director When news broke last November that Universal Pictures was developing a sixth Bourne movie with “All Quiet on the Western Front” director Edward Berger, fans were left wondering if Matt Damon would be returning to his iconic action franchise. The Bourne series, which includes four films headlined by Damon and one by Jeremy Renner, has earned $1.6 billion worldwide. Damon’s last outing was 2016’s “Jason Bourne.” Damon made a recent appearance on “The Late Show” and stopped short of confirming he’ll star in the new Bourne movie when the topic was brought up by host Stephen Colbert.

In the exclusive first-look at the 1985-set drama (check it out above), Murphy’s family man Bill Furlong comes face-to-face with Emily Watson’s formidable Sister Mary whose convent is concealing dark and disturbing secrets.

Ben Affleck is set to direct Matt Damon in a new thriller film called Animals.The two, who are known for their long friendship and writing partnership that resulted in an Oscar win for Good Will Hunting in 1997, have worked together several times in the past – including on The Last Duel and last year with Air.Now, the two will work together again on the new thriller film, which is set to centre around a kidnapping plot. No more plot details have yet been shared about the project.Affleck will direct the film, with the the script written by Connor McIntyre.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are collaborating yet again!

Following the success of Air, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are reuniting again on the kidnapping thriller Animals, with Damon starring and Affleck directing. Connor McIntyre penned the script with revisions by Billy Ray. The film will be produced by Affleck, Damon and Dani Bernfeld of Artists Equity and Brad Weston and Collin Creighton of MakeReady, who developed the project in partnership with Fifth Season.
