Gemma Atkinson has broken her silence after her fiancé, Gorka Marquez, was dumped from Strictly Come Dancing alongside his celebrity partner, Nikita Kanda on the third week of the BBC show. Gorka, 32, and Nikita, 28, found themselves in the dreaded dance-off, alongside former Love Island star Zara McDermott, 26, and her pro partner, Graziano De Prima, 29. Ultimately, the judges all voted to save Zara and Graziano, with head judge Shirley Ballas revealing that she would have done the same, had it come to a tie.
But it seems that one person who is seeing the 'silver lining' is Gorka's fiancee Gemma, 38, who shares two children with him. She and Gorka attended the Pride of Britain Awards together, with Gemma looking incredible in a red backless blazer and matching trousers. As she made her way home to pick up her four year old daughter, Mia, from school, Gemma posted a video to Instagram in which she spoke about Gorka and Nikita's exit from the show.
She said: “I got to meet Nikita, Gorka's partner. She's lovely. So, so lovely.” She went on: “Literally no dance experience, no acting experience, getting up at four o'clock for a breakfast show before rehearsals...
I said to her, 'You should be bloody proud! Genuinely mate, be bloody proud.” Speaking about the upside of Gorka leaving the show so early, she explained: “The silver lining is that Gorka gets to come home now. We've not see him for four weeks... Obviously I have now but [not] Mia and Thiago so yeah.” She then added: “It’s fine." Gemma and Gorka welcomed their second child, son Thiago, in July 2023, making them a family of four.
The former Hollyoaks star took to Instagram to announce the news of her son's safe arrival.
