Thousands of students across England, Wales and Northern Ireland will get their GCSE results today, August 24.
Students will be getting their hands on their results directly from their schools from 8am. Pupils who studied for other qualifications, such as BTEC First, Technical and Tech Awards, will receive their results at the same time as GCSE students.
Top GCSE grades are expected to fall on last year as part of a plan to bring grades down to pre-pandemic levels this year. It comes after Covid-19 led to an increase in top grades in 2020 and 2021, with results based on teacher assessments instead of exams.

In England, GCSE exams are now graded using a numerical system from 9 to 1 rather than from A* to G – with 9 being the highest grade. A 4 is broadly equivalent to a C grade, and a 7 is broadly equivalent to an A.
