Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has hit out at the Glazer family, accusing them of sucking the energy out of "everything they do".
The American family are under mounting pressure to sell United after announcing that they were open to either fresh investment or a full sale almost seven months ago. British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani have established themselves as the favourites to secure the club, each lodging a handful of bids.
Ratcliffe, who wants to secure majority ownership of United, is reportedly the leading candidate to gain control at Old Trafford, though Sheikh Jassim, who wants a full takeover to oust the Glazers completely, lodged a fifth and increased offer last week.
Frustrations have reached an all-time high among United's supporters, who are desperate to see the end of the Glazers' premiership. And former right-back Neville sympathises with the fans, suggesting that he understands just how they are feeling.

"Honestly, I think everyone has got to the point whereby what the Glazers do, they erode every little last bit of energy out of everything that they do," said Neville, as quoted by the Belfast Telegraph.
"The fans have had enough, they want them out and I think, to be fair, it's sad, really, that it's come to that but that's exactly how I think everybody feels.
"They know nothing about Manchester or the north west of England and the tradition of football in this part. They have not embedded themselves in the local culture."
