Gary Lineker trolls Manchester United with obvious joke after BBC 'rubbish' blunder

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has mocked Manchester United after the BBC were guilty of accidentally describing the club as being 'rubbish' during a live broadcast on Tuesday.
Eagle-eyed viewers happened to notice that the BBC News live news ticker at the bottom of your TV screen displayed the text: 'Manchester United are rubbish'. Unsurprisingly, the gaffe soon gained traction on social media, with people stunned by the magnitude of the error.
It forced the BBC into quickly issuing an apology, with presenter Annita McVeigh confirming that it had been accidentally published. She confirmed it was as a result of someone learning the ropes of the live news ticker and typing random words.

McVeigh said: "A little earlier, some of you may have noticed something pretty unusual on the ticker that runs along the bottom of the screen with news making a comment about Manchester United, and I hope that Manchester United fans weren't offended by it. Let me just explain what was happening: behind the scenes, someone was training to learn how to use the ticker and to put text on the ticker, so they were just writing random things not in earnest and that comment appeared.
"So apologies if you saw that and you were offended and you're a fan of Manchester United. But certainly that was a mistake and it wasn't meant to appear on the screen. So that was what happened, we just thought we'd better explain that to you."
The BBC's error led to BBC employee Lineker making a light-hearted joke of the blunder. Quote tweeting the BBC's apology for the mistake, Lineker posted: "Why apologise?," accompanied with two laughing emojis.
