Angry employees at two shops who are being tormented by a balaclava gang of youths in a never-ending crime spree believe not enough is being done to stop them. A group of up to 12 teens, with estimated ages between 13 and 17, have been breaking into shops in East Hull for the last few months, leaving customers and staff "petrified".
In one of their most recent attacks on a supermarket, the youths were allegedly carrying hammers and stole hundreds of pounds worth of stock, causing a young employee to be so shaken that she needed to take time off work, Hull Live reports. A staff member at the targeted supermarket said: "They’re coming in 10 to 12 of them at a time and all their faces are covered by balaclavas.
"They are verbally abusive and threatening to staff and, in the particular store I work at they barged their way in on Monday, took over £400 worth of stock and ran out. Teenage staff were on at the time, a 16-year-old girl, and she had a panic attack.
"She was in bits, it was horrible. She has come back to work but she’s a little bit on edge so we’ve been making sure we buddy up when we go home and we make sure everyone gets home alright because they are often outside when we finish work.
"This isn’t the first time they’ve hit our store but it’s by far the worst. We’ve had to have panic alarms installed. There’s no control of them whatsoever. They’ll literally come and take what they want and the staff are that petrified that they can’t fight back."
According to the worker, the young hooligans have targeted her store eight times over the last couple of months. The most recent incident was on Monday, March 27, at around 5.30pm while the store was busy.
She said the gang "come in and disperse themselves", making it hard to

Ben Croll After putting the finishing touches on chapters two and three of motion-capture VR experience “Jailbirds” earlier this year, writer/director Thomas Villepoux will next adapt his tale of freedom and confinement into a feature, Variety has learned. Currently in development, the upcoming “Jailbirds” feature will nearly triple the runtime of a nearly finished short that Villepoux and producer Griselda Gentile will bring to Cannes’ Marché du Film next month. Deploying the same motion-capture techniques Villepoux honed on his three VR pieces, both iterations of the “Jailbird” saga will delve even deeper into the work of Belgian cartoonist Philippe Foerster, whose work in the cult comics mag “Fluide Glacial” inspired the recently completed VR series.
