‘Ozark’ series finale: Explaining Jonah’s actions in last scene

Note: Spoilers ahead.“Ozark” ended its four-season run with Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) dead and the Byrde family intact — just barely — as 14-year-old son Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) joined the show’s long list of cold-blooded killers.Or did he?In the show’s final scene, reminiscent of that WTF? “Sopranos” series ender, Jonah aimed a shotgun at pesky private investigator Mel Sattam (Adam Rothenberg), who broke into the Byrdes’ lakefront house to steal the ceramic-goat cookie jar containing the ashes of Wendy’s (Laura Linney) unstable brother, Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey), contract-killed by his sister in Season 3.Sattam told Marty (Jason Bateman) that his crematorium did a subpar job burning Ben’s body and that he had enough DNA evidence (bits of teeth and bone) to prove that Ben was murdered. Jonah emerged from the shadows, pointed the shotgun at Sattam and the screen suddenly cut-to-black — the silence shattered by a shotgun blast that left Mel’s fate and Jonah’s intentions open to interpretation.Gaertner, 18, answered a few questions from The Post about the shocking finale and how Jonah evolved over the four seasons since “Ozark” premiered in 2017.Did you know how it would play out for Jonah going into Season 4?Well … not entirely.

getting canned from the series. And how he’s fighting back in the press, posting an open letter defending his actions, positioning himself as “collateral damage,” a victim of “cancel culture” run amok in Hollywood.First, though, let’s catch up with a couple of other men of a certain age who’ve recently landed in hot water — like 71-year-old Bill Murray, who last month got tossed from the set of “Being Mortal,” Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, after complaints of “inappropriate behavior,” which reportedly included teasing female co-stars, getting flirtatiously “touchy” and pulling on at least one actress’ ponytail. There’s also the case of former child star Fred Savage, who is only 45 but who started acting when he was 11, giving him 34 years in the business.

Josh Brolin Says ‘No Country For Old Men’ Was Originally Heath Ledger’s Part, But He Needed A Break From Acting

“No Country For Old Men” is easily one of the better modern western thrillers made in the last twenty years and it’s sort of shocking to realize that actor Josh Brolin, who played the morally questionable protagonist of the film, almost didn’t join The Coen Brothers film. How Brolin ended up being cast in the film is a pretty fascinating story as he got help from two genre directors for his audition tape but even that wasn’t enough.

‘Fantastic Four’ Loses Its Director As ‘Spider-Man’ Filmmaker Jon Watts Exits Project

Is Jon Watts‘ love affair with Marvel Studios over? It might be? ‘Spider-Man’ Director Jon Watts Exits Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four’

EXCLUSIVE: Jon Watts has withdrawn as the director of Fantastic Four, the reinvention of the venerable Marvel Comics series at Marvel Studios and Disney. Watts just directed Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios film that grossed $1.89 billion to become the sixth highest grossing film of all-time. Nothing sinister here; Watts just needs a break from the superhero realm after completing the Spidey trilogy with Tom Holland and Zendaya. He had expected to make Fantastic Four his next film, the third feature iteration of that franchise and first since Disney acquired Fox, which controlled the franchise. Watts has spent the better part of the last decade directing and promoting the Spider-Man films, after being hired off Cop Car, a small budget indie thriller that premiered at 2015 Sundance. He needs a breather.
