Ria Hebden may be the entertainment expert on Lorraine, but even she makes mistakes as she proved while presenting a special segment on Coronation Street. The 40-year-old was giving fans an insight into what you can see if you book yourself onto a behind-the-scenes tour of the ITV soap. After excitedly telling viewers it’s ‘the place to be’ and informing us that we can visit any day of the week she started to point out specific props.
She began with Eileen Bradshaw’s sofa, then marvelled at a gallery wall of cast photos before she reached the finale – a giant portrait of Jack and Vera Duckworth played by the late Bill Tarmey, and Elizabeth Dawn. She pointed at the framed artwork and said: ‘Look it’s the legendary Bob and Vera, we absolutely love it. ’ Not quite, Ria.
It then flicked back to the studio where a frowning Lorraine Kelly, 63, was watching on, and she mouthed: ‘Bob and Vera?! Jack. ’Unbeknownst of her mistake, Ria carried on sharing her enthusiasm for the tour and moved on to the Rovers Return. Viewers also picked up on the error.
One person wrote: ‘Bob and Vera. Loved how Lorraine was furious and instantly mouthed ‘Jack”. ’Some people questioned if Ria had watched the soap before.
While another viewer hasn’t watched themselves, but pointed out even they were ‘fairly sure he was called Jack!!’Ria shouldn’t feel bad though as everybody makes mistakes. Just look at Eamonn Holmes who recently accidentally swore live on-air, while discussing how to get home. Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1.
