‘Full Circle’: Steven Soderbergh’s Max Limited Series Gets Premiere Date, First-Look Teaser

Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor On New Year’s Day, Peacock dropped the first three episodes of its true crime series “Paul T. Goldman,” a documentary loosely based on Paul Finkelman’s semi-autobiographical self-published book. The show, utilizing reenactments and behind-the-scenes shots, has the eccentric Finkelman telling the story of his relationship with his second wife, whom he believed was living a double life as a prostitute, dating her pimp and running an international sex trafficking ring. It was directed by “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” director Jason Woliner, who brought an ambitious use of satire to the streaming platform. Finkelman’s unique delivery and distorted facts and his attempt to set the record straight in the form of a movie that he directs and writes himself, starring himself, creates an unconventional type of nonfiction storytelling. Still, Peacock and Woliner saw it as a documentary and decided to submit it for Emmys consideration in outstanding documentary or nonfiction series. However, not everything works out the way you hope.

Showtime has released a teaser trailer for Fellow Travelers, an eight-episode limited series based on Thomas Mallon’s novel, starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey. Jelani Alladin (The Walking Dead: World Beyond), Allison Williams (Get Out) and Noah J. Ricketts (American Gods) round out the main cast. Co-produced by Fremantle and Showtime, the network also revealed Fellow Travelers will premiere on Paramount+ With Showtime this fall.

TBS has set a summer premiere date for Season 4 of its anthology comedy series Miracle Workers. Miracle Workers: End Times will debut Monday, July 10 at 10 PM. As we previously reported, TBS, in January, had pushed the premiere dates for several series, including Miracle Workers, which initially had been slotted for January 16, amid TNets’ original programming overhaul. TBS also released a first-look teaser of the upcoming season (watch above).

Apple TV+ has set a fall premiere date for limited drama series Lessons in Chemistry, starring and executive produced by Oscar winner Brie Larson. The series will debut with the first two episodes on Friday, October 13. New episodes will debut weekly on Fridays through November 24.

Alison Herman TV Critic SPOILER ALERT: This review contains spoilers from “With Open Eyes,” the series finale of HBO’s “,” now streaming on Max. “Succession” ends in a place it’s been countless times before: with Kendall Roy, alone and adrift by a body of water. “With Open Eyes,” the feature-length conclusion to the Roy family saga, has many such full-circle moments. Some series finales radically break from their show’s typical rhythm, flashing forward to show us the full span of the characters’ lives (“Six Feet Under”) or transforming into a different concept altogether (“Girls”). But despite its length, “With Open Eyes” is the distilled, concentrated essence of “Succession,” even as it builds to a decisive break between the Roys and the company that’s no longer theirs — a union that’s otherwise informed every second of the series’ events.

The next chapter in the Russo Brothers’ global spy thriller Citadel now has an official title and a first-look photo of its lead, Matilda de Angelis.

Netflix has set July 20 for the Season 3 premiere of Sweet Magnolias, and has released some first-look photos of the upcoming 10-episode season (see above and below).

Emily Longeretta Warning: This story contains spoilers from “Does One Door Close and Another One Open?,” the Season 8 finale of “Chicago Med.” Nick Gehlfuss is hanging up his lab coat. The actor, who has portrayed Dr. Will Halstead on all eight seasons of “Chicago Med,” has exited the series, making his final appearance on Wednesday night’s Season 8 finale. As Will left the hospital following the many changes at Gaffney, he reunited with his ex-fiancée, Natalie (Torrey DeVitto, who made a surprise appearance in the episode after leaving at the end of Season 6). “It was a difficult decision, but ultimately, I felt I’d taken Dr. Halstead as far as I can go with him. I think that comes down to a creative part of you, or the energy or spirit you have that you’re either built for a very long time with one person or not,” Gehlfuss tells Variety. “I am attracted to the profession for the variety in it, and eight years is a long time. It’s two college degrees! I’m joking now that I basically have a doctorate in television.”

Netflix has set June 22 for the global premiere of Glamorous, starring Miss Benny and Kim Cattrall.

CBS has set premiere dates for its summer slate of reality television programming, including three returning and one new series.  “Secret Celebrity Renovation” kicks off the lineup with a July 28 premiere followed by the Aug. 2 debut of “Big Brother” Season 25. The all-new musical game show “Superfan” will launch on Aug. 9, and finally “The Challenge: USA” returns for its second season on Aug. 10.  “Big Brother’s” 25th season will debut with a special 90-minute episode on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 8 p.m. ET while a group of new Houseguests arrive at the “Big Brother” house. Following its premiere, the series will air on Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. followed by Thursdays at 9 p.m. featuring live evictions.

Starz has set a late summer premiere date for Season 2 of Power Book IV: Force. The third spinoff in the Power franchise starring Joseph Sikora as Tommy Egan will premiere its second season Friday, September 1 at midnight ET on the Starz app, Starz streaming and on-demand platforms and internationally on the Lionsgate+ premium streaming platform across Brazil, Spanish-speaking Latin America, the UK and Ireland. On linear, it will debut on Starz at 8 PM ET/PT in the U.S. and Canada.

Steven Soderbergh and writer Ed Solomon have already teamed up twice: the first time for HBO‘s experimental murder mystery series “Mosaic” in 2018, then for 2021’s “No Sudden Move.” Now the duo work together again on “Full Circle,” Soderbergh’s latest limited series for Max, ready to debut on the streamer this July. The first teaser for Steven Soderbergh’s return to TV for limited series “Full Circle” has finally arrived, and we’re questioning everything.The limited series, which premieres July 13 on Max, follows couple Clare Danes and Dennis Quaid as they search for their kidnapped son amid some shady coincidences. In the teaser, Danes receives an ominous phone call from a caller who calmly informs her “we have your son.” Danes immediately alerts the authorities and the family gears up for an intense day of questions.“I just wanted to asked about the ties between you, your family and Guyana,” an investigator (Zazie Beetz) asks Danes.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter The “Futurama” revival at Hulu has set its premiere date. The new episodes of the beloved sci-fi animated series, officially the show’s eighth season, will debut on Hulu on July 24. New episodes will drop weekly on Mondays thereafter, with Season 8 (or Season 11 depending on how you break it down) consisting of 10 episodes. Hulu commissioned 20 episodes in total back in February 2022. Hulu has also released the first teaser for the new season, which can be seen below. This marks the second time the show has been brought back since it originally launched in 1999. After its initial four-season run on Fox, reruns of the show found new life as part of the Adult Swim lineup on Cartoon Network and on DVD. Four direct-to-video films were then produced, which were later re-edited into a fifth season that aired on Comedy Central starting in 2008. Comedy Central would go on to air two more seasons consisting of 26 episodes each between 2010 and 2013.
